8 Unconquerable Horrors of Living Alone
To a lot of people living alone sounds like fun. That is until they actually move out and on the very first night in their new abode they start hearing strange noises coming from all over the place. Been there? Here are some of the reasons why living alone is not as fun as you thought it would be.
#1 Living alone makes you paranoid
Strange-looking shadows crawling up the wall, strange screeches, steps and knocks coming out of the attic and flickering lights. At some point all of that gets under your skin and you just go berserk. Which means that you always have to be on DEFCON 1. Quite reasonably, this goes at the top of our list.
#2 Watching scary movies is over … forever
Living alone means you’ll never be able to watch a scary movie and feel safe again. Living with someone on the other hand makes you feel a bit safer because there’s always the hope that the monster/ghost/serial killer will get to your house-mate first and leave you be.
#3 No one to share your pain with
Have you ever felt like you must talk to a friend to get something off your chest? Living alone makes that next to impossible. Things get much worse if you feel down in the dumps and there’s no one around to get you out of the funky mood. You just shut yourself off from the outside world. So living alone – no go, especially for the more emotional of you.
#4 No one to share your laughs with
Same goes for the fun times. Having no one to share the fun with is really unpleasant, to say the least. The whole point of pleasant times is having someone to share them with. Plus, at some point laughing at stupid stuff without your bff by your side is a buzz kill and very awkward indeed.
#5 Spiders …
Living alone means you’re at risk of being eaten alive. Yes, the truth is that there’s no one to save you from all the crawlies and previously unexplored insect species whose natural habitat appears to be your own house.
#6 The mundane daily chores become even more boring
No one really likes cleaning but at least the whole process is much more tolerable if there’s someone to share your misery and help you out. And there’s always that tiny possibility that your roomy will get everything done while you kick back and have yet another day off.
#7 Being a responsible adult is pain in the ass
It’s very useful to have someone around who’ll make sure the rent and the bills are paid on time. Having to deal with stuff like gutter cleaning or any other type of house maintenance for that matter is also better left at the hands of someone willing to deal with it.
#8 You’re lazy and everything becomes one big mess
Having to do everything around the house by yourself requires humongous effort on your part. And often you keep postponing the chores for tomorrow (or so you keep telling yourself) and nothing gets done … ever. That is until living in such a mess becomes unbearable. This is when you really have to put an effort and clean everything.
So if you’re thinking about living on your own, think and think carefully.
