Super Creative Ways To Repurpose Everyday Items

People keep telling me that I’m a slob! Complete and utter slob. But just because my shoebox of an apartment is crammed with things people think are useless and that I’m too lazy to throw away, doesn’t mean I’m messy. I, on the other hand, would like to think of myself as a sentimental person. The point is that I have a lot of stuff some might find worthless. If you’re like me, don’t worry, there’s still hope for you. Repurposing.

So surprise your cleaning lady. Instead of burdening her with removing all your trash, turn it into something fun and useful, for there is no trash anymore, only good opportunities. Here are some cool design ideas that will definitely get you excited and inspired.

8 Unconquerable Horrors of Living Alone

145_1.jpg
To a lot of people living alone sounds like fun. That is until they actually move out and on the very first night in their new abode they start hearing strange noises coming from all over the place. Been there? Here are some of the reasons why living alone is not as fun as you thought it would be.

1 Living alone makes you paranoid

Strange-looking shadows crawling up the wall, strange screeches, steps and knocks coming out of the attic and flickering lights. At some point all of that gets under your skin and you just go berserk. Which means that you always have to be on DEFCON 1. Quite reasonably, this goes at the top of our list.

2 Watching scary movies is over … forever

Living alone means you’ll never be able to watch a scary movie and feel safe again. Living with someone on the other hand makes you feel a bit safer because there’s always the hope that the monster/ghost/serial...

Going Back to the City Life in Sydney

Have you ever felt stuck? Have you ever felt like you need to step aside for a moment and take a break from your life? The same routine, the same job, the same people you meet every day, time and time again, all that sameness gets even to the best of us. I’m sure each and every one of you reading this has at some point in his or her life felt like that. But few of us have the courage to break free and see what’s it like on the other side. This is the story of how I got sick and tired of running the rat race and decided to take a break, which in hindsight turned out to be the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Ever since I can remember I felt like my life has been predetermined. It’s like someone else has decided what I should do even before I was born. Kind of reminds me of the myth of the three Fates in Greek mythology, who weaved the metaphorical thread of the life of every...

So, you’ve come up with the decision to find your new best canine friend. You get the idea - just go out and keep you and your kids company, anytime, anywhere. Do stuff.
Frenchie.jpg

Well that’s just wonderful. But keep in mind that different dogs have different personalities just like humans. So you have to choose very carefully what companion will suit you best (kind of the same way you choose your actual friends). And again just like with people, you can never be absolutely sure what the character of your new friend will turn out to be in the years to come. However, with dogs there is a way to have some idea what your soon-to-be pet might be like. Here are a few useful tips on how to find your perfect dog match. Also, keep in mind some breeds do really well with small children, while others are definitely out of the question as family dogs.

Here are four general tips you might want to take into...

4013535226_8291eee35e_z.jpgYou finally did it - you bought the perfect house! The size is right, the neighbourhood is idyllic and it’s just the right distance from town. You are now overwhelmed with thoughts of how the actual move will go and where would be the best place for your enormous new wardrobe. However, there are a few steps to consider before you start packing you probably forgot about while daydreaming of your new cosy nest.

1. Make Sure Everyone Knows You’ll Move

Of course, most of your family and friends know all about your huge new purchase by now. However, there a probably a few institutions and companies you’d want to inform about the move as well. Such as your bank or…etc. You do not wish any confidential information about your finances to get to the next tenants of your former residence. Also, you should set the record straight with any utility companies and other bills and subscriptions you...

1. Money Troubles.

Most likely your financial knowledge is limited to how to distribute your parent’s weekly/monthly allowance, and spend it for mostly unnecessary and useless purchases. Abandoned Beauty: Edition Airports

Plane.jpg
Sometimes it amazes me how we (people in general) get so overly excited about a project. Pour excessive funds into its realisation and then… then something goes utterly wrong and we pull back. Whether it’s easier to turn your back on your mistakes or it simply costs less than to “fix” them, I’ll let you, my dear reader, be the judge of that. Fact is, today I would like to share a few amazing stories with you. Stories about magnificent constructions, once buzzing with life, now abandoned. Yet, even when covered in dirt and debris, inhabited only by reptiles, rodents and the occasional pigeon, they still mesmerise the visitors and demand our awe. This is my abandoned beauty collection - edition airports. Fascinating, monumental buildings left to the mercy of nature.

The Apartment Where Time Stood Still for 70 Years

Time Capsule Apartment in Paris.jpg
This is a story about a young girl forced to leave her home at the brink of the Second World War. Just before its horror was unleashed upon Europe, the 21-year-old Ms De Florian closed up her apartment in Parice. She simply closed up the shutters and all the windows, drew the curtains and locked the door, leaving the property as if she was going to the market and would be back in a couple of hours.

Hours became days, the days – months and the months – years. Seven decades later the apartment was still protected only by those shutters and a century-old front door with just as antiquated lock. Whether it was the painful memories of the past or other reasons Mrs De Florian never returned to her Parisian property. After she passed away at the age of 91, the heirs tasked a team of experts to do a full inventory of her belongings.

Behind a stiff lock, not once touched in 70 years, lay a...

Why Western Civilisations Can’t Grasp Japanese Building Trends

Unusual Japanese House Designs

Japanese eccentric housing never seizes to surprise me. Some of the world’s most eclectic examples of modern architecture are brainchildren of local designers. From the world’s smallest house, to dwellings with no walls, upside-down constructions and many more. However, one can logically ask what makes both architects and customers frequently look for out-of-the-box designs which quite often puzzle the rest of the world.

Why We Don’t Understand Japanese Housing Style (or the Lack of It)?

House Na Fujimoto

Before we rush to judge, marvel or simply fail to comprehend the driving power behind wacky Japanese buildings we must take several factors in consideration. First of all, western civilisations have a totally different perception about property value. Deviation from societal norms can easily devalue a building for many reasons. It can prove to be impractical or even worse DIStasteful to...
