Super Creative Ways To Repurpose Everyday Items
People keep telling me that I’m a slob! Complete and utter slob. But just because my shoebox of an apartment is crammed with things people think are useless and that I’m too lazy to throw away, doesn’t mean I’m messy. I, on the other hand, would like to think of myself as a sentimental person. The point is that I have a lot of stuff some might find worthless. If you’re like me, don’t worry, there’s still hope for you. Repurposing.
So surprise your cleaning lady. Instead of burdening her with removing all your trash, turn it into something fun and useful, for there is no trash anymore, only good opportunities. Here are some cool design ideas that will definitely get you excited and inspired.
#1 Turn the old wine barrels lying around your grandparents’ house into an awesome drum set. With a little enthusiasm and effort you can turn them into a totally decent set for beginners. That would be the perfect opportunity for you to start playing if you already haven’t.
#2 Turn your old cassettes into beautiful, peace of art light fixtures. That one is actually one of my personal favourites. Incredibly easy to make and yet quite classy. For that one you’ll only need your old cassettes and some heat-resistant super glue.
#3 Looking to spruce up your garden? There’s the perfect opportunity. Turn your vintage piano into a magnificent water fountain. This DIY project will definitely keep you busy but the result is simply incredible.
#4 Replace your old incandescent light bulbs and turn them into a mini greenhouses. That’ll require a bit more patience and at some point you might even get frustrated, but the effect of a, say, a dozen of these hanging around your patio will be amazing.
#5 Another way to upcycle a incandescent light bulb would be to turn it into a beautiful oil lamp. Compared to the previous project, this one is pretty straightforward so you’ll have no problem whatsoever. On top of that, the oil lamp will burn for about five or six hours, which in some cases is more that the original bulb.
#6 Get inspired and turn an old vintage door frame into a beautiful mirror. That’s yet another upcycling project that’s not so complicated to make and at the same time the result will be delightful.
#7 Don’t you just hate when you have to deal with all kinds of tangled cables? Who doesn’t … But there is a solution to the problem and it’s ingenious. What you need are just a few old paper clips and voila, problem solved.
#8 That one is pretty far-fetched because I’ve hadn’t seen a floppy disk for at least a decade. But if you happen to have such an antique in your possession, don’t throw it out. Either keep it for a few years or make something like that. It looks pretty fresh.
#9 If you’re into Yoga, keep your old Yoga mat. There are literally tens of things you could do with an old mat, but the best way to repurpose it is to make a light and practical laptop sleeve.
#10 Last but not least, use an old chair to make a beautiful, vintage towel rack and shelf for your bathroom. Simply freshen it up by giving it a it a new paint job and cut it in half as shown on the picture.
